Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Spotlights Closed Loop Tube Inspection System at FABTECH 2017

Hexagon Expands Commitment to the Tube and Pipe Industry; Increases Fabrication Inspection Offerings

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announced today it will spotlight the advanced Tube Inspection System in Booth #A1032 at FABTECH 2017, November 6-9, at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL. The closed loop work cell features the innovative TubeShaper software and a portable ROMER Absolute Arm coordinate measuring machine (PCMM) integrated with a fully automatic Pines CNC Bender (Pines Engineering, Wickliffe, OH). The work cell demonstrates an automated bend-measure-correct approach to streamlining tube production. This scalable system can address various sizes of tube and pipes to meet the needs of engineers, quality managers and shop-floor users at advanced manufacturing facilities. Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence develops closed loop manufacturing solutions like the TubeShaper work cell that utilize engineering, manufacturing, and quality data to deliver actionable intelligence.

Hexagon debuted its groundbreaking TubeShaper software at FABTECH 2015. Since that time, the company has significantly expanded its commitment to the tube fabrication industry by establishing key Value-Added Reseller (VAR) relationships with leading CNC Pipe Bending machine manufacturers Pines Engineering, Universal Tool and Engineering (Johnson City, TN) and Hines Bending Systems, Inc. (Fort Myer, FL). The TubeShaper environment can interface directly with one or more CNC tube benders, and includes an advanced CAD engine for importing and exporting tube data in various formats. An informational video demonstration of the Tube Inspection System can be found here. Also at FABTECH, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence strategic distribution partner Advanced Tubular Technologies (Waterford, MI) will scan and measure tubes in Booth #B10064, demonstrating its VTube-LASER software working with a 7-axis ROMER Absolute Integrated Scanner Arm.

In Booth #A1032, Hexagon will exhibit more of its extensive portfolio for the inspection needs of companies specializing in metal forming and fabrication. In the software arena, Hexagon will reveal its new Smart Quality software, an online quality data and measurement resource management software platform delivering information automation to quality management. The portable Leica Absolute Tracker AT960 will also be shown on the exhibition floor. This high-speed measurement system is used for six degrees of freedom (6DoF) probing, reflector measurements, scanning and automated inspection for large-scale fabrications.

Hexagon will also showcase its exciting AICON line of highly precise 3D scanners for fabricated components  the AICON StereoScan Neo and the AICON XR8. Delivering the highest data quality, these systems generate the maximum level of detail (AICON StereoScan Neo) and rapidly capture multiple points simultaneously (AICON XR8). Glossy, reflective and dark surfaces can be easily scanned without pre-treatment.
