Manufacturing index stays positive for third month
The PMI manufacturing index ticked up for the third month in a row, indicating optimism among southeastern Wisconsin manufacturers.
The March PMI index registered at 57.78, according to the Marquette-ISM Report on Manufacturing. When the index score tops 50, it indicates that manufacturers have a positive outlook on their order backlog, supply chain and general economic environment.
The index was at 55.22 in February and at 50.36 in January.
Some of the manufacturers surveyed indicated that their backlog is as large as it has been since 2007, and that they are making capital expenditures to diversify.
